'Final Fantasy 15' News: Noctis To Join 'Dissidia NT'

Good news for fans of "Final Fantasy" protagonist Noctis because the character will be joining the roster of the upcoming "Dissidia: Final Fantasy NT." This was announced last Tuesday during Sony's conference at the Tokyo Game Show.

For those unfamiliar with "Dissidia," it is a fighting game that takes characters across all "Final Fantasy" titles and pits them against each other. These characters mostly retain their signature moves and are sort of the UFC octagon of the franchise where gamers see which character has the best skill set.

Square Enix has confirmed that Noctis will use "familiar attacks and arsenal of weapons" in battle. The "Final Fantasy 15" character also rounds out the roster of more than 20 characters with at least one character from each game. A trailer for the game was also recently released at the Tokyo Game Show.

Noctis is also a logical addition to the game given that it pretty much boasts the complete roster of "Final Fantasy" protagonists including previously-revealed characters from multiple mainline Final Fantasy games, including notable fighters like "Final Fantasy VI's" Terra, "VII's" Cloud, and "XIII's" Lightning, among others.

Unlike the previous two iterations of the game which were developed by Square Enix, "Dissidia: Final Fantasy NT" is developed Koei Tecmo's Team Ninja. The game will feature a team-based combat that lets players ally themselves with two other characters against another team. They will also be able to tweak the stats of their characters for things like HP and move sets.

While NT is already available in Japanese arcade machines, the PlayStation 4 release will include the characters announced during Sony's conference. The closed beta for the console release also wrapped up not too long ago so fans will be seeing the game pretty soon.

"Dissidia: Final Fantasy NT" is set to be released on Jan. 30, 2018.
