'Final Fantasy 7' to Get A PlayStation 4 HD Remake (VIDEO)
Square Enix has announced it is releasing a true HD remake of "Final Fantasy VII" on PlayStation 4, posting a trailer to make the news official. The PlayStation One role-playing game's rebirth was announced at the Los Angeles E3.
Originally released in January 1997, "Final Fantasy VII" has gone through rumors and hints of a remake since its release. Three PlayStations and 18 years later, Square Enix issued a press release announcing production has began on the full remake for PS4, with other platforms to follow in the future.
According to Square Enix director, Tetsuya Nomura, the remake may deviate from the original source material, Gamespot reported.

"You'll have this extremely, very, very pretty FFVII existing on the same plane. We feel that if that happens, it's like, why have the same exact game?" Nomura said through a translator.
The remake will have the key members of the game's original game on the production team, including its scenario writer Kazushige Nojima and producer Yoshinori Kitase.
Together with the announcement, a new trailer of the remake was released, which showed almost unrecognizable scenes, and a movie trailer-like male voice-over narrating a story about the troubles brought by a "star that threatened all."
The trailer, which employed PS 3 graphical capabilities, appeared to be referring to gamers and their long wait for a "Final Fantasy VII" remake after characters Barret and Cloud, a man wielding a minigun in place of an arm and another man with a gigantic sword, entered the picture.
While the trailer may not be an indication of what the remake will look like, fans of the series are expecting improved animation, less cartoonish characters, a higher resolution, and new elements that weren't present in the original.
News of the "Final Fantasy VII" remake release date has yet to be announced.
