Final Fantasy VI iPhone Release Should Arrive Soon as Game Hits Google Play

The Final Fantasy VI iPhone release should not be too far away as the game was released in Google Play earlier today.

Unless Google has some sort of exclusivity agreement, the latest port of this classic RPG should be easily made available for Apple devices and will probably arrive in the coming weeks.

Those who own an Android device can download the new app in the Google Play store today for $15.99. The graphics and translation have been altered a bit from the original version that was released on the SNES.

The mobile version of Final Fantasy VI is in 2D, making it different from the versions of FF 3 and FF 4 that also came to the Android platform in recent years.

The battles have been re-balanced making them less tedious.

The company recently commented on the possibility of Final Fantasy VII, a title which is arguably the most popular out of the series, arriving on Android.

"We are aware that we have tons of VII fans," said Square-Enix. "We have VII fans in our own company. If [Final Fantasy VI] works out well, we would like to one day be able to work with VII."

This is not exactly a confirmation, but it is safe to say that the mobile version of FFVI will become a favorite for gamers and Android users, making FFVII a no-brainer for future releases.

Gamers in the U.S. received the sixth installment of the RPG series through the SNES console in 1994. However, the game was re-titled Final Fantasy VI in order to keep with the sequence of the series in the U.S. as not every version was ported from Japan. The original 2 and 3 did not make it to the states until they were re-designed for the Nintendo DS in the early to mid-2000s.
