'Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age' Game on Preorder; Square Enix Details Reasons Behind Revival

"Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age" is coming in four months time, giving fans the chance to try or experience again the PlayStation 2 hit.

The game is getting a remastered version from Square Enix, the same studio that released the classic back in 2006. Fans can already preorder a copy, which they will receive in July.

Fans of Square Enix know that there are tons of "Final Fantasy" titles that the developer can bring back, but the decision to bring "Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age" to life is fuelled, above all else, by nostalgia.

In an interview with GameSpot, game director Takashi Katano said that they have "several reasons" in choosing "Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age" as the title due for an update.

"Since we worked on the original XII, we have a lot of memories associated with that title. And when Final Fantasy X came out as an HD remaster on the PS4 and became a successful title, we thought that maybe we should bring this one back as well. So we brought together the core members of the original development team," he explained.

Katano revealed that working on "Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age" again also allowed them to create the HD version they dreamt of doing when they created the original.

"But if we did that, I wanted to have the original members work on it as well. It was difficult trying to find a time when everyone could work together again, just because everyone was on different projects," he went on to say.

"Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age" will bring players back to Ivalice, where the kingdom of Dalmasca is caught in the crossfire of the war between Archadia and Rozarria.

It will be up to Princess Ashe of Dalmasca and a young man named Vaan to make sure that their kingdom survives the ordeal.

"Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age" will be released on July 11. Gamers can preorder it on the Square Enix store.
