Final Fantasy XIII-2: Square-Enix Releases New Screenshots

Square-Enix has just released brand new screenshots from its upcoming Final Fantasy XIII-2 game, the sequel to 2009’s Final Fantasy XIII.

There are three new screenshots from the game in total and they feature three different aspects of the game including character interaction, landscape of areas and mini games.

The first screen shot gives a gorgeous view of an area that is called Academia.

The second shot shows a slot machine mini game that appears to be in play while the picture was taken.

And the third features two characters from the original Final Fantasy XIII conversing about traveling through time.

The characters in the final screen are Serah and what appears to be a grown-up version of Hope Estheim.

Final Fantasy XIII-2 will be a direct sequel to the previous Final Fantasy game.

Usually when the number is changed on a Final Fantasy, the game takes place in a completely different universe with completely different characters.

However, this is second time in the series a direct sequel was made based on the numbered game, with the first being Final Fantasy X-2 in 2003.

Final Fantasy XIII-2 takes place several years after the end of Final Fantasy XIII, a game where the main character Lighting and others saved their planet Cocoon.

Lightning goes missing in the new game and is thought to be dead by many.

Her sister, Serah, another character from the original game believes differently and sets off on a quest with new character Noel to find Lighting after he saves her from monsters overrunning her town.

Final Fantasy 13 is set to launch on January 13, 2012, for the PlayStation 3.

It is also coming out on the Xbox 360.

The original was for both PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
