Final Fantasy XV New Trailer Release Date This Weekend; New Playable Character Introduced

Square Enix recently showcased a new trailer for the upcoming action-adventure game "Final Fantasy XV" over the weekend for Jump Festa 2015, one of the most popular exposition events in Japan.

Spearheaded by Final Fantasy director Hajime Tabata, the video featured a great deal of cinematics and gameplay footage.

The teaser also revealed that another Cid would be coming into the game as a playable character. For starters, Cid is a "mechanic" character appearing both as a party member an NPC in the previous FF games.

Speaking during the event, Tabata clarified that Cid would be named Cidney in the forthcoming title. Although non-essential to the game's story, the mechanic is nonetheless a vital part of the game as she will help players take care of the vehicle featured in the trailer, Kotaku reported.

Near the end of the video, a giant creature appeared and according to Tabata "that's Titan."

"It's a summon, and we're planning on it being usable at that size, but with summons in XV – you saw them fighting Titan [in the trailer] – you have to fight them like that, or you obtain them in other ways. Basically, you're going to obtain them through different methods," the developer explained.

The "seamless town" is also being discussed by the host where he asked Tabata to confirm if the town would offer "shopping" experiences or serve resting places.

"You can rest in hotels, have meals, go shopping, and other events will occur," Tabata answered.

Then there's the thing about buffs:

"The way it works is, if you don't sleep for long periods, you don't get a negative status – rather it's the opposite," he explained. "Basically, things like increased spirits or feeling good or other added bonuses stop getting applied if you don't sleep for long periods of time."

In addition to the aforementioned, Kotaku also said that Tabata has plans to make a playable version of the TGS demo and that it would be available "in some form or another" soon.
