Final Fantasy XV News, Update: Features Giant Map of Connected Land Mass

New updates about the highly anticipated role-playing video game from Square Enix, the "Final Fantasy XV," indicated that the title will be set in a giant map of connected land mass.

This news came from Gamespot.com who interviewed game franchise director Hajime Tabata Wednesday. It was revealed that players should expect a gaming world where the locations are "connected, literally."

"The world is connected by continuous land," Tabata said. "If those areas were disconnected, it would feel distant from reality. You'll find that you'll be able to walk or drive or take a train and travel through this world seamlessly. I feel you'll be able to experience something similar to a real trip."

The FF XV director went on to inform the site that Squre Enix did want the sequel's title to be different from its predecessors in terms of maps.

When asked if fans would still see airships in the coming installment, Tabata admitted that the studio is still working their way on the plan.

"To be completely honest, that's still to be determined," he said. "At the moment we can't say yes, they will be included, but we do want to and we're ready to take on that challenge and see what can be done."

Tabata hinted further that "summons, large mystical monsters and beings that have appeared in nearly every game in the Final Fantasy franchise," will be play essential roles in the forthcoming game.

"These summons will be protectors of the planet, guarding parts of the world from annihilation," the site added.

Final Fantasy XV is expected to arrive for current-gen gaming consoles at a still unannounced date.
