'Finding Carter' Season 2B News, Cast, Spoilers: The Show Shifts Focus in Season 2B

"Finding Carter" definitely has had a lot of family drama involved. The story line not only focuses on Carter but on everyone else involved in her life. However, in season 2B, it may be less about the Wilsons and more about Carter.

Executive producer Emily Whitesell recently had an interview with The Hollywood Reporter and she revealed how viewers of the show may see a shift in focus. Unlike in the previous seasons where the story lines were more family centric, the latter part of season 2 will center more on Carter. Whitesell shares, "The season focuses way more on the kids and their teen life and things that Carter is really up to."

The main reason for this decision was mainly that teenage kids and viewers of the same age as Carter can identify with more relatable characters in the story line. Whitesell explains, "Teens are very interested in that part of their own lives. That's intriguing to them, watching these characters struggle with the same issues they struggle with in real life." She further added how the show should definitely change now from how it started, "Finding Carter began as a drama about a kidnapped girl returning home and all the intrigue that came with that, but now it's about the teens learning to live with what happened and finding their place and autonomy. We pushed the show into melodrama a lot and now it's less of a melodrama and more grounded and takes place in real life situations."

However, Whitesell says that they won't be taking away the family dynamics in the story as it will still definitely play a role in the plot. Especially with Lori still in the picture, how the Wilsons will handle her presence will still be shown. Furthermore, Carter's discovery of her brother (Jackson Rathbone) will be something that she has to face and come to terms with.

"Finding Carter" airs every Tuesdays,10 p.m. on MTV.
