Five Bible Verses to Battle Stress

Becoming a Christian doesn't guarantee everything will work out according to our wishes. On the contrary, we should expect more hurdles as we face decisions that may test our faith. We can get weary and frustrated and this could affect our disposition.

Sometimes we get caught up in insignificant matters that add to our personal baggage. We may involve ourselves in unnecessary things that would prompt us to take action we'll regret later on. Without realizing it, we pick up the rocks that drag us from our journey.

The Bible is filled with the message of hope that can be applied to our everyday life. It tells us to surrender our worries to God who is bigger than all of the world's problems combined. The verses that were written centuries ago remain relevant to this day and age of technological advancements. Here are five of them.

1. Psalm 94:19

When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought me joy.

2. Psalm 118:5-6

When hard pressed, I cried to the Lord; he brought me into a special place. The Lord is with me; I will not be afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?

3. Psalm 55:22

Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you; he will never let the righteous be shaken.

4. Philippians 4:6-7

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

5. James 1:2-3

Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.
