'Five Nights at Freddy's' creator hints at new game reveal in Halloween update

Indie game designer Scott Cawthon has announced he will reveal a new game he is working on when he releases a free update for "Five Nights at Freddy's 4" on Halloween.

With the critically acclaimed "Five Night's at Freddy's" series having reached its fourth installment this year, its creator, Scott Cawthon, posted an announcement on Steam that he would be including a demo of a new project he's working on when he releases the latest update for the survival horror game at the end of October.

Cawthon will be launching a free automatic update for the fourth iteration of "Five Nights at Freddy's" on October 31st, which will include a cheat menu for the game, a minigame twist, and a challenge menu, giving players more chances to earn stars.

He also listed an element he will not be including in the Halloween update. Players who are anticipating the answer to a mystery - what's inside the locked metal box that appears when they complete "FNAF4's" Nightmare Mode - may have to wait a little longer for an answer.

Cawthon also mentioned he was working on a new game and is gearing up to release a playable portion in the upcoming update. Barring that possibility, he will be inserting a demo of his next project in the update instead.

The game designer did not mention whether his new game would still belong in the horror genre like his hugely popular "Five Night's at Freddy's" titles.

"Five Nights at Freddy's," Cawthon's first commercial title, was released in August 2014 for PC via Desura. A point-and-click survival horror video game, it takes place in "Freddy Fazbear's Pizza," a restaurant featuring animatronic animals that come to life at night.

The game was a runaway success, with three sequels released between 2014 and 2015.
