Enter "Five Nights at Freddy's: Sister Location". The new installment by developer Scott Cawthon was originally set to be released on Friday, October 7. However, the official launch date has been delayed for a few months. Various reports have stated that the reason behind the delay is because "Five Nights at Freddy's: Sister Location" is deemed too dark.

Game Too Dark

Being too dark might seem to be a ridiculous reason to delay the release of a renowned horror game installment. However, Cawthon himself admitted that there are plot elements in "Five Nights at Freddy's: Sister Location" that are too disturbing which can make people, even him, feel sick.

The developer has stated that delaying the game's release would be the best option so he can work on it to make "Five Nights at Freddy's: Sister Location" a bit more kid-friendly. However, while delays in game launches are perfectly normal, it is rare to see a game being delayed with only a few days before its official release.

Other Fan Speculations

This news expectedly caused fans of the game to be upset and disappointed. More so, the fans are angered by Cawthon's reasoning that "Five Nights at Freddy's: Sister Location" is too dark to be released in its current state. In fact, being dark and disturbing are the main selling points of the game, as with every horror game.

As the explanation from the game developer did not make much sense, some have speculated more likely scenarios causing the delay. Some say that this is just a publicity stunt for "Five Nights at Freddy's: Sister Location" to generate more hype due to the controversy. Also, there are theories that maybe this was due to technical issues that Cawthon did not want to divulge.

Also, there is the likely chance of Cawthon just attempting to throw off the fans. The developer has pulled this off before, with the unexpected release of some "Five Nights at Freddy's" games earlier than planned. Fans speculate that maybe the issue with "Five Nights at Freddy's: Sister Location" was created to just carry on with the tradition. With the promised October 7 release just a day away, fans are looking forward whether "Five Nights at Freddy's: Sister Location" would indeed be released.
