Flacco $20 Million a Year Contract: 'Best Quarterback in NFL' Wants More Money

In light of his Super Bowl run, Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco is allegedly seeking a new $20 million contract.

Is Flacco as good of a player as Drew Brees or Peyton Manning? At least Flacco seems to think so. The player's new asking prices would put him in line with the 5-year $96 million contract Manning currently has secured with the Broncos and Bree's 5-year $100 million contract with the New Orleans Saints.

The Baltimore Raven's quarterback is nothing short of a hometown star. Born in New Jersey, the Baltimore player's name is on many purple Jerseys throughout Maryland. With the Ravens headed to the Super Bowl, that fame is likely only to increase.

Flacco is currently in the last year of a 5-year contract with the Ravens that has vetted him a total of nearly $30 million, according to a Yahoo! Sports report. The player's NFL records also include the most regular season wins by a quarterback in his first five seasons. And Flacco was the first rookie quarterback to start in all 16 games and win two playoff games.

Flacco just might get his steep price too, fans say, if he manages to win the Super Bowl.

"If he wins someone will pay it if he loses he's just another Joe," one fan wrote on the Yahoo! blog.

Flacco was criticized last year after stating that he believed himself to be the best quarterback in the NFL.

"I assume everybody thinks they're a top-five quarterback," Flacco told the ESPN.com when asked where he thinks he ranks among NFL quarterbacks. "I mean, I think I'm the best. I don't think I'm top five, I think I'm the best.

"I don't think I'd be very successful at my job if I didn't feel that way," he added. "I mean, c'mon? That's not really too tough of a question. That doesn't mean that things are going to work out that way. It just means that's the way it is -- that's the way I feel that it is and that's the way I feel it should be."
