Floodgate Records Signs Rock Band Transition

Floodgate Records added rock band Transition to their roster yesterday, following an announcement made by the Orange County-based record label.

As newest addition, Transition will join the ranks of artists such as The Myriad, Forever Changed, and Mourning September.

“We had been fans of Mourning September for quite a while, so we were aware of Floodgate,” explains Steve Biringer, guitarist for the band. “But once we got to meet Tim and Josh, and really got to see just how much of a family Floodgate Records is, and what the label is all about, we knew that we could call Floodgate home.”

Formed in 2003 in Pittsburgh, PA, Transition, consists of vocalist Dan Smyers (17), guitarists Steve Biringer (20) and Matt Colussy (20), bassist Dustin Hook (17), and drummer James Caligiuri (22).

“Floodgate seemed to be the right choice because the label cared about us just as much as we cared about them,” says Smyers. “Success comes much easier when both sides are working hard together to achieve the same goals.”

“I am happy to be on Floodgate because I feel like I am part of family,” he continues.

With two independently recorded and marketed albums under their belt, including their self-titled EP, which sold over 3,000 copies in only 2 months of release, Transition caught the attention of Floodgate through rave reviews from other bands as well as Transition’s presence on www.purevolume.com.

“Right away we were blown away by Transition,” explains Josh Ragsdale, A&R for Floodgate Records, “They have an amazing live show and they are one of the hardest working bands I have ever seen. From the first time we saw them, we knew that they should be a part of the Floodgate family. Look for big things to come from this Pennsylvania band.”

Transition is scheduled to enter the studio in early 2006, with a release date set for later in the spring.

The band can be seen performing on Friday at this year’s Purple Door Festival in Lewisberry, Pa.
