Florida Gators vs Northwestern State Demons takes place in the NCAA 2013 tournament Friday night. With only five more games to go in the March Madness final 64 the picture is almost complete about who will be in the third round and who will be going home early. Both these two teams will be hoping to get through, although most would make Florida the clear favorites. The game is scheduled to tip off at 7.40 p.m. ET and can be watched online through free live stream (details below).
The game will come tonight from the Frank Erwin Special Events Arena in Austin, Texas. The Gators who are No. 3 seeds will be looking to fulfill their billing and make a big run in this year's tournament. Realistically they are hoping to at least get through to the Final Four so that they can clearly make their claim to be among the nation's elite.
However, the Gators have undermined their good work many times this season. Numerous times they have collapsed in the final minutes of games, and they will also have the poor loss to Ole Miss in the SEC Championship Game fresh in their minds.
A lot will depend on how Florida deals with that; whether they motivate themselves to step up and not lose their nerve at the end of games, or whether they will allow the past to torment them and bring doubt into their game if things are still close near the end.
Offensively Florida can score from anywhere on the court, and have one of the more balanced teams offensively in this year's competition. Everyone in their starting line up average between nine and 13 points on average per game.
Meanwhile, No. 14 seeded Northwestern State managed to come through after winning the Southland Conference Tournament last week. Interestingly they are the top scoring team in the nation this season with 81 points per game. Although many analysts have been quick to point out that the opposition they've played this year has not been the most challenging.
