Floyd Mayweather News: 'Money May' describes Cotto-Canelo scoring as 'Ridiculous, rips Freddie Roach for corner job on Cotto

Undefeated welterweight great Floyd Mayweather Jr. recently made his comments regarding the Miguel Cotto-Canelo Alvarez middleweight showdown.

Alvarez proved to be too much for Alvarez to handle after defeating Cotto by a wide margin (119-109, 117-111, 118-110) at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas. The victory gave "Canelo" the WBC, Lineal, and Ring Magazine middleweight titles.

In a report by Boxingscene, Mayweather did agree that Alvarez was the rightful winner, but was not too happy about how the three judges' scored the bout.

"Do I think that Canelo won? Absolutely. Canelo won the fight, but it wasn't no 119-109," Mayweather attested. "Those crazy scores [119-109 and 118-110] that they had was ridiculous."

"I think Nevada has the best commission in the world, and I'm not just saying that because I live here. I'm saying that because they are fair with everyone."

Mayweather went on to add that the margin should not have been as wide as the scorecards stated.

"I do think the fight was a lot closer than 119-109," he added. "That is f****** ridiculous. In my opinion – I'm not saying this is what happened – but in my opinion, either somebody is handpicking these judges or something is going on that's not right."

"Money May", on the other hand, had a problem with how trainer Freddie Roach worked the corner of Miguel Cotto on fight night. In another Boxingscene report, Mayweather believes the Puerto Rican boxer was not given the right pieces of advice in between rounds.

"If you're losing, your coach don't need to wait for you to get to the 10th round to tell you that you losing," Mayweather said. "If your coach knows you're losing in the fourth round, if that was the case, that's when a trainer needs to step up and say, 'You know what? Pick up the f***ing pace. You losing.' Or, 'F*** it! Go out like a soldier! Go for the knockout.'"

"If you get caught, that's part of the game," he added. "But s***, the name of the game is kill or be killed. You gotta sacrifice something to get something."
