The 31-second video opens with Mayweather's "TBE" (The Best Ever) signature graphic in white font on a black background, then segues to various scenes of the boxer hard at work training for his fight.

With dramatic cliffhanger music underscored by drums and cymbals, the video took on the atmosphere of a teaser trailer for a major blockbuster picture, sans the voiceover.

Towards the end of the video, the same white graphics appeared informing audiences that "On May 2, the world will be watching."

Mayweather has subsequently released an Instagram video showing him hefting an axe to hack repeatedly at a piece of a tree trunk bigger than himself as part of his training regimen, although the 15-second clip only gained 21,000 likes on his Facebook page.

The wood chopping technique is not a new method. Boxers have been using it for decades to build strength and emphasize explosive thrusts of the arms and fists. Mexican fighter, Juan Miguel Marquez incorporated wood chopping into his training prior to knocking Pacquiao out in the sixth round of their 2012 fight.

Touted to be the greatest fight in boxing history, the Mayweather – Pacquiao bout at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas is expected to earn as much as $400 million in the pay-per-view till alone.

Both fighters have been issuing declarations of their aggression and plans for defense against one another, with neither camp backing down on the daily verbal assault against each other's fighting skills.
