Follow Me
Forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the heavenly call of God in Christ Jesus.

WHEN Jesus called his disciples he said to them, "Follow me." One by one they left behind their jobs and their families to become disciples of Jesus Christ. Jesus made it clear to all that he wanted their undivided attention and devotion.
Undivided attention is difficult for me. Last week, on two different occasions, I made some wrong turns while driving. I knew where I wanted to go. My errors occurred simply because I was distracted, thinking about a million things. As a result, both my anxiety and frustration levels were raised by fear of becoming lost and being late in reaching my final destination. Had I remained focused on the way I needed to go, I would have saved myself a lot of distress.

In a similar way, when we stay focused on the way of Jesus Christ, our lives will have direction. When each day we answer Christ's call, "Follow me," we are not as likely to make wrong turns in life. Focusing on Christ's will and purpose for our lives keeps us headed in the right direction, living lives of love and serving others.
PRAYER...
God of love, in our work today and in our play, help us to answer Christ's call, "Follow me." Amen.
