Conservative pro-family group Focus on the Family gave unexpected praise to the Obama administration this week for their concern on adoption.

Kelly Rosati, adoptive mother of four and senior director of Focus on the Family’s Sanctity of Human Life department, was among those who attended the White House Office of Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships event for adoption leaders on Wednesday.

She praised the Obama administration for “really listening” and for wanting to know from those “on the front lines what could be better done to serve the kids in America’s foster care system,” according to FOTF’s CitizenLink.com.

The meeting also recognized that adoption recruiting events, such as Focus’ Wait No More, is important to finding families for waiting kids.

Yet despite the rare if not first ever compliment to the Obama White House, the conservative Christian ministry was quick to point out their disagreement with Obama in placing children with homosexual couples.

Since the time Obama became a real contender for the U.S. presidency, Focus on the Family has been denouncing his views on abortion, gay civil unions, embryonic stem cells, and many other family-related issues.

Although the evangelical ministry made sure to point out their continued difference with the Obama administration, their compliment is a significant step towards having a more positive relationship with the White House.

Focus on the Family notes that it “anticipates” ongoing dialogue with the White House on adoption.
