It will not only be sounds of Christian music with Skillet, Charlie Daniels, Michael W. Smith and other bands performing live in Milwaukee this weekend, but also a life-changing message, says evangelist Franklin Graham as his team is set to “Rock the Lakes.”

The “Rock the Lakes” event at Veterans Park Saturday and Sunday is “gonnna be not only a time of fun, I’m gonna have a message,” Franklin Graham, the son of Billy Graham, says in a video produced by Fox 6 News. “A lot of music and a lot of fun, and it’s free…”

Judging by the size of the projection screen and other arrangements, the crowd is expected to be big, says the video, showing volunteers setting up the stage. It will be the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association’s first event in three decades in Milwaukee, Wis. Billy Graham, now 92, held a crusade at County Stadium in August 1979.

As the BGEA joins local churches in Milwaukee for Rock the Lakes, it will be “two full days of high-energy music and fun for the whole family,” the ministry says in a statement.

Franklin Graham, who serves as president and CEO of the BGEA and the international relief and evangelism organization Samaritan’s Purse, says the event is for the people “to be aware of God in a deeper way by coming to know Him as their personal God, putting their faith in His son Jesus Christ.”

“We can have a new beginning this weekend in Milwaukee and I believe we will see that happen in the lives of hundreds of young people who will make a decision to receive Christ by faith in their hearts,” Franklin Graham told TODAY’S TMJ4 Friday.

Skillet, Lecrae, The Afters, and The Almost will perform on Saturday during the 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. program, while Charlie Daniels Band will appear Sunday as part of the prayer and entertainment program from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The excitement among the resident of Milwaukee and others is evident on the Facebook page of “Rock the Lakes.”

“My mother used to take me to see Billy Graham when I was a little girl at the Stadium Armory,” says a comment by one Carlos Johnson. “I try to watch all shows that are broadcasted. Franklin Graham has followed in his father’s footsteps. He is doing a good job.”

“So excited!!!” says Jennifer Raisbeck. “I can’t wait to see all the bands there and have God work through them to touch all of the people willing to receive the Holy Spirit!”

The events will streamed live on www.billygraham.org/rockthelakes.

One worry the residents have is the weather forecast. “Dear Lord our father in heaven please make the 40% chance of rain become a Glorious day of ‘Sunshine,’” prays one Kaolee Yang on the Facebook page. “We need your light to illuminate our city with Love, Hope and Faith. In this we pray in Jesus’ precious beautiful name – Amen.”

All seats are free, and food and drink vendors will be on site. Visitors have been asked to bring blankets and lawn chairs.
