Friends Reunion 2016: Reunion Episode to Return on Feb. 21

"Friends" reunion 2016 has generated a lot of buzz lately, and fans are surely excited for the reunion episode, which will premiere on Feb. 21.

The reunion of the cast of popular series "Friends" got together once again for a one-time episode to mark director James Burrows' 1,000th television episode. Burrows notably directed 15 "Friends" episodes out of that number, according to BREATHEcast.

In an in interview with Entertainment Tonight, David Schwimmer recalled that he had a "lovely" time seeing his former co-stars once again to honor their beloved Burrows. However, most fans might have been a bit disappointed over the reunion because they might have expected something more from the cast or the story.

"He is a prolific director and he really, really helped forge the cast as an ensemble," said Schwimmer of Director Burrows. "He really clarified all those relationships from the get go."

Schwimmer also recalled that Burrow's "Taxi" sitcom that encouraged him to pursue his acting career. The classic 1970s sitcom on ABC had starred Judd Hirsch, Tony Danza, Andy Kaufman, Danny DeVito, Christopher Lloyd, Rhea Perlman, and Carol Kane, the report details.

Unfortunately, Matthew Perry was unable to make it to the "Friends" reunion because of some other schedule commitments. Perry was in London to rehearse for his role in a play.

Burrows also directed "The Mary Tyler Moore Show," "Cheers," "Laverne & Shirley," and "The Bob Newhart Show." He was also the one who directed the first few episodes of "Friends" season 1, the report relays.

In addition, Burrows got nominated 15 times for the Directors Guild of America. From 1980 to 2005, except for 1997, he got nominated for the Emmy Awards every year. He has also taken home 10 Emmy Awards and four Directors Guild of America Awards.

"Friends" reunion 2016 episode will air once again on Feb. 21 on NBC.
