'Frozen 2' News Latest: Anna Will Discover Own Power, Main Song Will Be An Anna-Elsa Duet

As Walt Disney Studios announced back in March, a sequel is being developed for the hit animated feature "Frozen," the 2013 musical fantasy film that won two Academy Awards and became the highest-grossing animated film of all time.

As expected, fans have been clamoring for details about the upcoming film, dubbed "Frozen 2," as Disney and the people behind "Frozen" have kept tight-lipped about the much-anticipated sequel, which, as previously reported, directors Chris Buck and Jennifer Lee were still brainstorming on.

But though there still seems to be a long way to go before fans get to see Anna and Elsa reunited on the big screen, rumors have been swirling around about the possible storylines for the new film. One of the most persistent is that Anna will come into her own in the sequel, discovering her own supernatural power and possibly even becoming the film's villain.

Proponents of this theory point to a 2014 interview in which young fans asked "Frozen" directors Buck and Lee whether or not Anna possesses a secret superpower, to which Buck replied: "Her superpower is love. That's Anna's superpower." Lee chimed in, saying, "You know, like a mama bear can raise a car off their kid with their super strength, love is very powerful." Some have taken this statement to mean that Anna's newfound power will serve a dark purpose.

Meanwhile, The Telegraph has its own "Frozen 2" theories, one of which revolves around the sequel's counterpart to the chart-topping "Let it Go." According to Telegraph film critic Robbie Collin: "Possibly the sisters will sing a duet about being stronger together while they're being kept separate by some villain or evil force, taking verse about, then line about, and then coming together for a big, soaring chorus."

Though Disney has yet to announce the official release date for "Frozen 2," there has been speculation that the "Frozen" sequel won't be hitting theaters until 2018.
