Frozen 2 'Release Date Not Before 2018' – Latest Updates

Sequel to Revolve on Sibling Rivalry?

Now that the sequel to the hit animated film "Frozen" has been confirmed, fans—both kids and adults alike—are excited and curious as to how the story of the two sisters will progress. Although the excitement is keeping everyone on their toes, a report from The Telegraph claims that the movie won't be released anytime soon.

According to the report, Frozen 2's release date "won't be before 2018" because of Disney's three upcoming films, and the songwriters still need to write new scores for the stage musical. The first movie took two years in the making before hitting the big screen, so the sequel will more likely take the same amount of time.

In terms of plot, there are rumors of Elsa getting a love interest and the queen falling off a cliff and dying in the much-awaited sequel. Reports also suggest the possibility of Anna discovering that her sister is not the only one with powers in the family. An Aussie Network News report discusses the possibility of Anna having powers opposite to Elsa and her being the antagonist of the story.

"It is not impossible for Anna to have super powers as well. Some theories are saying that since Elsa's powers is winter, the power of Anna will be summer or fall. Thus, it led to speculations that Anna "possesses the power of fire," the site wrote.

The conflict? GamenGuide suggested that Anna might come into a battle with her sister because she'll discover that she's not a legitimate daughter of the king and queen. There are also hints about a big duet coming up between Anna and Elsa, which is expected to match the hit song "Let it Go." However, these are all just speculations, and Disney has yet to confirm these theories.

Chris Buck, co-director of Frozen had an exclusive interview with Fandango regarding "Frozen 2," and he gave us a few things to expect about the film's development.

"[In Frozen] she had such a dramatic journey, and at the end she's just starting to feel like she can open up and have some fun again. That's what was really good about the short (Frozen Fever)—we could have fun with Elsa. And that personality . . . you will see in the next one. I can't divulge anything, but for us, Jen and me, it's been so fun to get back in the room and be with these characters again. These characters are part of us—both for Jen and me. Anna, Kristoff, Elsa, Olaf—they're all parts of our personality, so it's fun to play with these characters again and sort of see where we can go next with them. Just like any characters that you love, to see them grow and to see what happens next."
