'Frozen 2' Sequel Rumors, News: It's 'Strange Magic' Not 'Frozen' Sequel

Days after about every costume players all over the world dressed up as Elsa, Anna, or Kristoff for the Halloween, the Internet was once again stirred with the rumors of a sequel to the hugely-popular Disney film, "Frozen."

The rumors were perpetuated by a known Disney fan site called Stitch Kingdom. The speculations sprouted when they found out the studio's acquisition of several domain names like strangemagic-thefilm.com, strangemagic-themovie.com, and strangemagicfilm.com, among others.

"Disney today registered several domain names that in no uncertain terms point to a film title — Strange Magic," the site stated in their report. "But the strangest bit of it all is that there appears to be little-to-no mention of it anywhere to be found on the interwebs — at least if you're not talking about the Electric Light Orchestra (ELO) song and really, for all we know, we just might be."

The theory was linked to the mention of words "strange magic" by "Frozen" characters Duke of Weselton and again by Grand Pabbie. A TV ad for the 2013 flick even includes the duke saying: "Strange magic has frozen this land."

"So if this is the title of the sequel, it makes sense for Disney to move early and claim the domain names," Movie Pilot also chimed in the hype.

As it turns out, they were wrong. "Strange Magic" is the title of a new animated movie from Lucasfilm Ltd., CNN reported.

A press release sent out by the studio said that "'Strange Magic' is a madcap fairy tale musical inspired by 'A Midsummer Night's Dream.'"

"Popular songs from the past six decades help tell the tale of a colorful cast of goblins, elves, fairies and imps, and their hilarious misadventures sparked by the battle over a powerful potion," Lucasfilm went on to say.

"Strange Magic" as further announced, is coming out in Jan. 23, 2015.
