Frozen 2 Updates: 2017 Release Not Likely; Holiday Special Prioritized Over Movie?
Based on an Idina Menzel quip, it can be confirmed that there have been no voice recordings done for Frozen 2
When Disney officially announced that a sequel about Frozen 2 is in the works, nobody knows what is happening about it after that. Fans of the hit animated movie have been left clueless as to the plot, characters and when it will be released. Recently however, original cast member Idina Menzel gave a few updates on the movie.
No voice recordings yet
According to Menzel, the script is still in development and the cast have not been told what the actual plot of the sequel is going to be. Menzel said in an interview, that they are still in the process of story writing and that the producers are still working out some details. She said that she might be still a part of the sequel but that is what she knows as of the moment. "We are at story writing and they're working on it and I think I'm in it. That's all I know - unless maybe Elsa falls off an ice cliff and she dies in the first five minutes."

Even if it was meant as a joke, what can be taken from her statement is the confirmation that there has been no voice recordings done yet for the movie. It looks more and more that the movie will not get its expected 2017 release.
Rumors on Frozen 2
Several rumors about Frozen 2 have been making the rounds and there might to be a germ of possibilities in them. One says that Elsa and Anna will both get into romantic relationships. Another rumor is that it will be revealed that Anna is adopted. Finally, they say that the main villain for the sequel will be a sorceress that can manipulate fire. All of these are however just rumors which Disney has not yet confirmed.
The holiday special
A few months ago, it was reported that the studio is working on a holiday special, similar to Frozen Fever. The special it is said is being prioritized ahead of Frozen 2. It will reportedly be broadcasted on ABC in 2017.
If the special is really happening, the possibility that the movie's release will be pushed back to 2018 or even early 2019 is very real indeed. The animation and voice recordings for Frozen 2 will certainly take a back seat to the holiday special.
