'Fuller House' Season 2 Spoilers, Release Date and Updates: Why Its Thanksgiving Episode is 'Extra Special'

It's double the holiday fun as the Tanner family returns for "Fuller House" Season 2 on Dec. 9. Given that time frame, it's likely that its Thanksgiving episode will be among, if not the, first episodes to air. Already it's anticipated as a highly special episode for a variety of reasons: from its canonical value to the stars that will be making the episode.

Canonical point-of-view

As noted by Cinemablend, the original "Full House" show which ran two decades ago had nary a Thanksgiving episode throughout its eight-season run. This runs contrary to most television series practices, which usually dedicates entire episodes as holiday specials. In fact, the one and only Thanksgiving special was aired during "Full House's" first season, "The Miracle of Thanksgiving." This was never followed since.

Even then, that episode made a mark on "Full House" history, as it was the first Thanksgiving the Tanner family celebrated after the loss of their mother, Pam. To offset the grief, the original "Full House" trio Danny (Bob Saget), Joey (Dave Coulier) and Jesse (John Stamos) made the occasion extra special by cooking up a (really disastrous but still) special Thanksgiving dinner for the three kids: DJ (Candace Cameron Bure), Stephanie (Jodie Sweetin), and Michelle (Mary-Kate/Ashley Olsen).

As such, having a Thanksgiving episode for "Fuller House" Season 2 would definitely set it apart. To add to the excitement, John Stamos and Bob Saget will be reprising their roles as Jesse and Danny for this special episode. Hopefully one of them will have learned to cook a turkey over the last two decades.

And it looks like they have, based on the photos the "Fuller House" cast shared while filming the episode. The entire Tanner/Gladstone family is all gathered around a table overflowing with food (including a seemingly sumptuous turkey), looking happy and festive for the occasion.

There's more than enough to be thankful for, too. In the "Fuller House" Season 2 Thanksgiving episode, fans will finally be introduced to Uncle Joey's wife, Ginger Gladstone. She's described as an enthusiastic, fun-loving magician who shares Joey's cluelessness in parenting. Along with her come the Gladstone kids as well, who have all traveled from Las Vegas to be with the family.

"Fuller House" Season 2 certainly packs a wallop with all these in store. Enjoy the holidays as Season 2 returns to Netflix on Dec. 9 this year.
