'G.I. Joe 3' Cast News, Plot Spoilers: Third Sequel Finds New Director, Story to Revolve More on Roadblock

After a long period of silence, recent news about the purported sequel of one of Paramount Picture's profitable action-thriller franchise, "G.I. Joe," indicated that the studio is already mobilizing the project and is now in talks with a director to head it.

A report from Deadline.com pointed out that DJ Caruso is now in talks to take helm of the third installment. Caruso is currently occupied with an on-going film "The Disappointments Room," with Wentworth Miller writing for the script and will feature the acts of Kate Beckinsale and Lucas Till.

Although far from being confirmed, sources for the publication however noted that the deal is "all looking quite promising."

Prior to Jon M. Chu, Hollywood Reporter wrote that Martin Campbell was also approached to direct "G.I. Joe 3" but apparently the talks never come to fruition.

"G.I. Joe: Retaliation" director Jon M. Chu was also attached to the project but left to helm the Ryan Guzman-led film "Jem and the Holograms."

Although it is still unclear which actors from the previous title would be reprising their roles in the forthcoming movie, the media outlet said that action star Dwayne Johnson is bound to return as Roadblock.

CinemaBlend.com meanwhile stated in their report that Johnson's character will be thrown with more focus when the G.I. Joe team returns to the big screen.

G.I Joe: Retaliation grossed $375.7 million in worldwide box office while its predecessor The Rise of Cobra (by Stephen Sommers) earned roughly $302.5 million.
