The rebel fighter was part of the mob that caught the long sought after Gaddafi hiding in a culvert after the convoy he was part of was bombed by NATO troops.

The video footage in question shows the recording device being turned away during an apparent attack and so it was not caught directly by the images. So just like the exact circumstances surrounding his death, these details remain murky.

International human rights groups have condemned the widely televised conditions of Gadaffi's death as illegal.

In a statement through a publicist, Gaddafi’s son, Saadi, said, “These barbaric executions and the grotesque abuse of the corpses make it clear that no person affiliated with the former regime will receive a fair trial in Libya.”

Saadi Gaddafi escaped to Nigeria in September.

The Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said, “We have to lean on facts and international laws. They say that a captured participant of an armed conflict should be treated a certain way. And in any case, a prisoner of war should not be killed.”

Libya’s National Transitional Council maintains that Gaddafi was killed in crossfire and finally laid to rest almost a week after the Libyan strongman was captured in his hometown of Sirte.
