In recent days, a gruesome video has surfaced showing former Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi apparently being sodomized by an unidentified rebel fighter.

A rebel fighter, who was part of the mob that caught the long sought after Gaddafi, used a cell phone to capture the imagery, obtained by the Global Post. The video footage showed a rebel either attempting to, or succeeding in, striking Gaddafi from behind with what appears to be a stick or metal object.

It is unclear if Gaddafi was indeed sodomized as the video quickly turns away from the attack.

International bodies and human rights groups have condemned the widely televised conditions that Gaddafi faced prior to his death, arguing that the slain leader faced “mob justice” and may have been unlawfully executed.

One of Gaddafi’s sons, Saadi Gaddafi, who had escaped to Niger in September as rebel forces were moving into Tripoli announced through his publicist, “These barbaric executions and the grotesque abuse of the corpses make it clear that no person affiliated with the former regime will receive a fair trial in Libya.”

The Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that the death of Gaddafi breached the Geneva Conventions.

He said, “We have to lean on facts and international laws. They say that a captured participant of an armed conflict should be treated a certain way. And in any case, a prisoner of war should not be killed.”

Libya’s National Transitional Council maintains that Gaddafi was killed in crossfire, but with global leaders such as Hillary Clinton and international rights groups calling for a full investigation into the Gaddafi’s cause of death, the NTC has promised to find out the exact circumstances surrounding Gaddafi’s death.

Today, Gaddafi was finally laid to rest, almost a week after the long time iron fist ruler was captured in his hometown of Sirte.

The former “king of kings” was buried in an undisclosed location at dawn and NTC leaders said that members of Gaddafi’s tribe were able to pray by his body prior to his burial.

According to reports, some of Gaddafi’s last words to the rebels that had captured him and were manhandling him in a mob were, “Do you know right from wrong?”

Gaddafi was also captured in a video saying, “Shame on you, you’re sinning, you’re sinning.”
