With these top caliber players suddenly in the mix within an already strong squad, some are now touting the Turkish champions as being potential dark horses in this year's Champions League competition.

Drogba joined the Turkish champs in January after a spell in China with Shanghai Shenhua. Prior to that he was famously the talisman for current Champions League champions, Chelsea.

Sneijder was also a January purchase for the Turkish side, and moved to Galatasaray from Italian giants, Inter Milan.

Coach Fatih Terim has basked the two new players to combine well to make the Galatasaray strike force one of the most potent and dangerous in this year's competition. He said, "Both of them have quickly merged and integrated with the team."

Both Drogba and Sneijder have experience at going all the way in the Champions League, with Sneijder winning with Inter Milan in 2010, and Drogba of course being part of the Chelsea team that won last year.

Schalke meanwhile have struggled in the German Bundesliga this year, and are currently laying in ninth position in the league table, and come into this game with just one win in 14 matches.
