Galaxy S5 and Galaxy Note 3 Now Available for Free in New Samsung 'Try Then Buy' Program

Samsung is offering trial versions of the Galaxy S5 and Galaxy Note 3 for free through its new "try then buy" program.

This new initiative by the company allows customers to try out some of its more popular devices for a 21-day trial at no cost. However, a deposit must be put down with either a debit or credit card for the phone to be sent out. The deposit will be refunded once the phone is returned at the end of the trial.

Other smartphones in the deal include the Galaxy Gear 2 and Gear Fit.

It is a good opportunity for those who are on the fence about purchasing a Samsung handset.

Motorola seems to have started a trend by being one of the first companies to have a trial program such as this one.

Motorola Mobility will offer customers interested in the device a chance to purchase the smartphone and fully customize it for a two week trial run. The company will build them a custom off-contract Moto X and ship it to them for just a penny. The offer will be available for just one day next week.

Samsung undercut its competitor by offering the device for free. However, this strategy might be more effective for Motorola as it's been a little tougher for the company's smartphones to catch on during the past few years. The Moto X is a pretty solid phone so once customers get their hands on one, the skepticism related to its less than high-end specs should disappear.
