'Game of Thrones' Season 4 Casting: Sigur Ros Signed On

The HBO hit drama "Game of Thrones" has added the Icelandic Indie band Sigur Ros to their season four cast. While it is unclear whether the band will be performing music or acting on the show, fans are nonetheless excited.

"Game of Thrones" executive producers are huge fans of the band, according to Entertainment Weekly. In fact, the two would often listen to Sigur Ros' music when they were shooting their popular historical-fiction drama in Iceland.

The band consists of three members, Job Birgisson, Georg Holm and Orri Pall Dyrason. The three are on location with the show currently, and scenes are being shot in Croatia, Entertainment Weekly reports.

"Game of Thrones" has not yet announced if they will be using Sigur Ros in a musical or acting role. In the past, the show has teamed up with bands for soundtrack music. But the HBO hit has also had multiple musicians guest star over the past three seasons.

Both The National and the band The Hold Steady were brought on to create and perform songs inspired by "Game of Thrones." The National performed a song called "The Rains of Castamere," and The Hold Steady performed a song called "The Bear and Maiden Fair." Will Sigur Ros follow in the footsteps of The Nation and The Hold Steady and contribute to the soundtrack?

There is also a chance Sigor Ros will be brought on as guest actors, as there is a precedent for musicians playing guest roles on the show. In the past, "Game of Thrones" has had members of Snow Patrol and Coldplay guest star.
