'Game of Thrones' season 6, news, cast, spoilers: Is the return of Jon Snow confirmed?

The greatest mystery in the hiatus of "Game of Thrones" lives on, that is whether Jon Snow, played by Kit Harrington, lives on. Th shocking end of the season 5 finale had everyone asking the same question over and over again. After witnessing the multiple stabs he had taken, denial took over the fans, despite the obvious death of one their favorite characters. For a few months now, rumors have been circulating that Jon Snow is alive as the series (and the books) has much bigger plans for him. With Harrington seen pretty much almost everywhere "Game of Thrones" is filming, the belief that he will return from the dead is quite strong.

In a recent report released by Screen Rant, a fan tweeted of a photo taken faraway of Harrington in a full-pledged costume in a current set. This certainly had everyone excited since it's the very first picture that confirms Harrington being part of the upcoming season. However, taking into account the consistent insistence of the director and Harrington in previous interviews about Jon Snow's death, it may be possible that his return won't exactly be in the current story line's timeline. One of the suspected ways that his appearance may possibly occur is in a dream, flashback, or a vision of a character who is alive in the upcoming season, such as Bran.

As to how Jon Snow will be able to regain his lost life once more, the most plausible theory would probably Melisandre giving him the "kiss of life," as Jon's death was questionably in coincidence with Melisandre's return to Castle Black. Although many think that if Melisandre does perform the rare spell on Jon, there is a big possibility that he will be very different from the righteous Jon everyone has come to love.
