'Game of Thrones' Season 6 News: Directors for Upcoming Chapter Revealed

It's barely a couple of weeks that the latest season of the hit TV drama series "Game of Thrones" ended, but new reports indicated that production for its upcoming Season 6 is being prepared with a handful of directors already chosen.

Entertainment Weekly revealed the full list of 5 directors signed up to helm the episodes of the forthcoming season.

  1. Jeremy Podeswa – is signed to direct Episodes 1 & 2 of Season 6. The "Tudors" and "Boardwalk Empire" director debut with Season 5's "Kill the Boy" and "Unbowed, Unbent, Unbroken."
  2. Daniel Sackheim – for Episodes 3 & 4. A relatively newcomer in the GoT project, Sackheim's credits includes episodes of "The X-Files," "House M.D.," and "The Americans."
  3. Jack Bender – for upcoming episodes 5 & 6. Another newcomer in the TV show series, Bender was the principal director on ABC's "Lost" where he helmed a total 38 episodes including a handful of premieres and finales. His name is also credited on CBS' "Under the Dome," TNT's "The Last Ship," and Fox's "Alcatraz."
  4. Mark Mylod – signed for episodes 7 & 8. He directed Season 5's "High Sparrow" and "Sons of the Harpy." His credits also include Showtime's "Shameless" and HBO's "Entourage."
  5. Miguel Sapochnik – the director who earned his reputation as the one who helmed the spectacular zombie vs. human battle in Season 5's "Hardhome" as well as the interesting events in "The Gift." According to the publication, he was given the honor to take on the penultimate and finale episode of Season 6 which is expected to feature "another epic battle" worthy of topping Hardhome.

As to why there are two episodes for each of the director, the publication explained that it would require for the show to shoot multiple episodes at a given time since they have to do it in various locations. Not doing so would take a large chunk of time just to make a single episode which they could have used to make a second one.
