'Game of Thrones' Season 6 News, Update: Extras Casting Call in Peniscola, Spain Confirms October Filming Dates

An extras casting call in Spanish location confirms the shooting dates for the upcoming sixth season of HBO's hit TV series "Game of Thrones."

According to fansite WatchersontheWall.com, the GoT production team will start hunting for extras in Peñiscola starting Monday, July 6. ModExpor International, the firm that handles the casting of extras in Spain, is particularly searching for men and women extras with ages ranging from 18-65. They may come from all races including white, black, Asian, and Mediterranean.

For men, they should be "in good physical condition," though they aren't looking for bodybuilders. Both male and female applicants should not have any "modern hairstyles or unnatural colors" and men may have to "cut their facial hair" for the intended purpose. They will also be checked for tattoos in the arms and legs.

The show will be selecting "600 men and 600 women" although it is not specified if this is only the initial screening number or the final one.

The chosen individuals will be booked "from October 1st through 9th." The shooting dates will be around that date.

"There may be some rehearsal time in there but it's safe to assume most of this is the filming schedule," the website said.

As for the relevance of the location, the site took hints from the preferred dark hairs of the extras. This may suggest that Peñiscola could act as Meereen or Essos.

"Game of Thrones" Season 6 is expected to premiere on HBO next spring.
