'Game of Thrones' Season 8 Rumors: 'Into the Badlands' Actor Joins Cast

When "Game of Thrones" returns for its eighth and final season in 2019, the hit HBO series is going to introduce a new, but familiar, face.

According to Watchers on the Wall, "Game of Thrones" season 8 will feature "Into the Badlands" actor Marc Rissmann. He is allegedly taking on the role of Harry Strickland, who is said to be the leader of theGolden Company.

It can be recalled that in the season 7 finale, Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey) tricked Jon Snow (Kit Harington), Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke), and their allies, that she will be helping them win the war against the White Walkers. In a later scene, she revealed to her brother, Jaime (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau), that she will only be taking advantage of the opportunity to get rid of her enemies, with the help of a group of fighters called the Golden Company.

The name of the group was mentioned during a conversation between Cersei and Iron Bank's Tycho Nestoris (Mark Gatiss). After being satisfied of the fact that the queen had already paid her debt, he then asked Cersei if there was anything he could assist her with. And when she mentioned that she needed more men in her army, she revealed that her adviser, Qyburn (Anton Lesser), has been making "overtures" to the mysterious group.

Euron Greyjoy (Pilou Asbæk), one of Cersei's newest allies, had already set out to find the Golden Company in season 7.

The casting of Rissmann, if it is indeed true, also shoots down the popular fan theory that Daenerys' former lover, Daario Naharis, will turn out to be the group's leader, serving as a major twist in the plot.

Daario originally belonged to the group until he joined the side of the Mother of Dragons. After she left him back in season 6, fans speculated that he would betray her.

HBO has yet to comment on the casting news. As of now, this is merely a rumor, and fans are encouraged to wait for official announcements from the show and the network.
