George W. Bush to Give Keynote at Christian Summit

Former President George W. Bush will give the keynote address at a Christian summit in Souderton, Pa. this spring.

Bush will be the keynote speaker at the Plumstead Christian School’s Founders Forum that will convene on the campus of Calvary Church in the eastern Pennsylvania town. The event will be held Tuesday, April 24, 2012.

The school community will get first priority in purchasing tickets. Tickets for the public will then be offered sometime in mid-December.

Head of School Patrick Fitzpatrick said in a statement that the community was especially glad Bush would speak at the school because of the former president’s religious beliefs.

"We are honored that President Bush will be coming (to) speak with our students and the larger Plumstead Christian School community," Fitzpatrick said in the statement.

"We're especially looking forward to his visit because we know that President Bush's personal message mirrors our own mission to teach students to think Biblically, serve effectively and lead Christ-centered lives," Fitzpatrick added.

Bush will be the first U.S. president to speak at the Founder’s Forum, which has been a part of the school for much of the institution’s 64 years.

The school has, however, welcomed a number of esteemed guests including former Vice President Dan Quayle, author and former missionary Elisabeth Elliott, Christian leader Jerry Falwel and former Governor of Alaska, Sarah Palin.

The appearance will fall in the heart of the 2012 presidential campaign, but neither Bush’s camp nor the school made any indications that the visit would include politics.

The Plumstead Christian School serves students from preschool to grade 12 and describes itself as a “Christ-centered, interdenominational” college preparatory school.

Bush released his memoir, Decision Points, earlier this year. He has welcomed few speaking engagements since leaving office. He announced Monday that he will be traveling to Africa to promote cancer awareness.
