In the latest developments of the case Circuit Judge Debra Nelson has ruled that jurors will be allowed to hear phone calls George Zimmerman made to police over the months prior to the shooting death of 17 year old Trayvon Martin.

That is a significant victory for the prosecution, who will try and show that the dozens of phone calls made by Zimmerman over a long period of time before the killing, show his state of mind and indicate that he targeted Martin as an aggressor rather than a victim.

The defense team had argued that the phone calls were irrelevant to the character evidence being presented and that it should be prevented from being used in the courtroom. However, the judge has sided with the prosecution in a small early victory.

In other dramatic developments an alternate juror, identified as B-72, has been dismissed by the court. Judge Nelson made the announcement but did not reveal exactly why the alternate juror had been dismissed, simply stating that the reason was not related to the case.

Media organizations have identified alternate juror B-72 as a Hispanic man, who works in maintenance at a school, and is an arm wrestler who is known to have entered numerous tournaments in the past.

B-72 had said during jury selection that he believed you couldn't tell a person's strength simply based on their size or how they looked.

His dismissal means there are now only three alternate jurors remaining on the panel.

On Tuesday prosecutors showed jurors photos of Martin's dead body, as well as a close up of the bullet wound that killed him. They were also shown the clothes both the victim and the defendant were wearing the knight of the killing, including the now much-publicized hoodie that Martin was wearing.

A crime scene technician also spoke to court on Tuesday saying that she had conducted a thorough search of the crime scene, and had specifically searched for blood evidence. She confirmed that she had found no blood on the concrete area where Zimmerman claims Martin had been bashing his head into as they fought one another.
