'Ghost Recon: Wildlands' Latest News: Game to Temporarily Be Offline for 10 Hours on Oct. 10
"Ghost Recon: Wildlands" will be temporarily offline this Tuesday for a big server update to prepare for the game's PVP, "Ghost War."
On Oct. 9, Ubisoft announced that "Ghost Recon: Wildlands" will be going offline temporarily for 10 hours on Oct. 10 in order for them to conduct a server update in preparation for the upcoming launch of the free player-versus-player mode, "Ghost Recon Wildlands: Ghost War." The update will begin at 12 a.m. PT, 8 a.m. BST, 3 a.m. ET and 9 a.m. CEST bringing game servers down for a total of 10 hours. Furthermore, there will also be a patch for the game's campaign mode.
"We'll operate a 10h long maintenance on 10.10 7am UTC for the Ghost War release and TU8," Ubisoft said in a Twitter post.

Ubisoft explained through the game's forums that the maintenance will only affect the online aspect of the game. Players that happen to be in the middle of a game when the maintenance begins will still be able to continue playing albeit in offline mode with three AI players.
In other news, with the release of the PVP mode "Ghost War," Ubisoft also announced that "Ghost Recon: Wildlands" will be fully playable for free later this week beginning on Thursday, Oct. 12, until Sunday, Oct. 15. Since "Ghost War" will be released today, Oct. 10, players can expect to play the new PVP mode along with the rest of the game for free. This applies to every version of the game on all platforms.
This free weekend event will also offer "Ghost Recon: Wildlands" with a 50 percent discount which would thus drop the price of the game down to $30. Players who own a PlayStation 4 Plus, Xbox Live Gold or a Uplay will be able to benefit from this discount offer until Oct. 23. The progress that players achieve during this free trial period will be carried over to the game once they have made the purchase.
