'Ghostbusters 3' News: Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson and Others Discuss Sequel

After 30 years since the first "Ghostbusters" arrived in theaters, the cast of the iconic film got together on the "Today" show to talk about their Entertainment Weekly reunion cover and of course, discuss the future of the popular franchise.

Appearing was director Ivan Reitman with the cast members Dan Akroyd, Ernie Hudson, Bill Murray, Anni Potts and Sigourney Weaver.

The other member of the cast, Harold Ramis, died in February this year at the age of 69. Fans who saw the exclusive behind the scenes of the EW photo shoot wondered why William Atherton and Rick Moranis weren't included in the cover.

Meanwhile, they were asked why they haven't thought of reuniting onscreen for a third Ghostbusters. Murray answered laughing.

"I say the money's not right yet," Murray joked.

"It's really hard to — to recreate something that was so beautiful, so wonderful," the 64-year-old actor and comedian said. "The studio would like to make a movie and continue the franchise, and I hear that there's going to be one that's all women."

Weaver chimed in the discussion and even suggested two possible titles of the female-led "Ghostbusters Ghostbabes" and later changed it to "Ghostbuster Babes."

It has been reported that director Paul Feig will spearhead a reboot project of the iconic film with "hilarious females" cast.

Although the names are yet to be announced, among those who are rooted for the role are Lena Dunham, Mindy Kaling, Melissa McCarthy, and Emma Stone, E! Online reported.

"I love the first one so much I don't want to do anything to ruin the memory of that. So it just felt like, let's just restart it because then we can have new dynamics," Feig explained.

That way, "Ghostbusters 3" could be an origin story or a reboot, instead of a sequel.
