'Ghostbusters' Reboot News, Update: Original Cast Member Dan Aykroyd to Make a Cameo in Paul Feig Reboot

The hype for Paul Feig's upcoming "Ghostbusters" reboot film is getting stronger and stronger by the week. Just recently, it has been reported that an original cast member of the popular ghost-fighting movie franchise will be making a special appearance in the forthcoming title.

A report from The Wrap, stated that Dan Aykroyd has "joined the cast" of Feig's all-female "Ghostbusters" ensemble on Tuesday.

The 63-year-old is said to play a cab driver role and will share a scene with Kristen Wiig. He is expected to drop the famous tagline, "I ain't afraid of no ghost."

Aykroyd has long been quoted to be a fan of the reboot. In an earlier interview this June, he said that "the new one's going to be big!"

The interplay, and with each of them, their individual voices are so well defined," he told Spinoff Online. "They're just such different characters, and there's a friction. There's a dynamic there. I'm not going to spoil it for people, but it's going to be big, big!"

"This one with the four girls is going to be massive. Oh man, it's funny. It's intelligent. It hits the right notes, and I'm really excited about it!"

Aside from Wiig, the new "Ghostbusters" movie will also feature the acts of Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon, and Leslie Jones. The quartet has been spotted donning the iconic ghostfighting suits throughout the month.

Sony Pictures is slated to release "Ghostbusters" on July 22, 2016.
