"With so much competition out there, it's more important than ever to create innovative ways to promote our shows and connect directly to our viewers," FOX's marketing head Shannon Ryan said.

"The discussion of TV shows has always taken place on Twitter and it is a natural evolution to add TV premieres and live pre-shows to our video experience," Todd Swidler, the head of Twitter's live video business said.

"Ghosted" takes cues from a show like "The X-Files" and "Stranger Things" and movies like "Lethal Weapon" and "Midnight Run." It's partly a buddy cop series and an action-thriller with the supernatural as the villains.

Scott plays Max Jennifer, a former astrophysics professor who's now working as a bookstore clerk, while Robinson plays Leroy Wright, a former detective who's now a mall cop. The Bureau Underground hires them for their specific skill set to track alien abductions and other paranormal activities.

Tom Gormican created "Ghosted" with the idea that it should not come off as a parody. The show will also delve into a few dramatic elements to project sincerity. It will not be a series that mocks other paranormal series.

"Ghosted" also stars Ally Walker (Ava Lafrey), Amber Stevens West (Annie) and Adeel Akhtar (Barry).
