Gia Allemand Dead: Mother Reveals She Was on the Phone With Daughter When She Died

Gia Allemand committed suicide at her home in New Orleans last week, and now her mother is breaking her silence about her daughter's death. Allemand's estranged father has also spoken out about Allemand's death and revealed that they hadn't spoken in quite some time.

Gia's mother, Donna, reportedly told police that she was on the phone with her 29-year-old daughter when Gia suddenly went silent. Donna tried to continue speaking with her daughter, unaware that she had hanged herself. The former "Bachelor" star left a suicide note on her dining room table, according to TMZ.

When boyfriend Ryan Anderson returned home, he found Gia unconscious. She was taken to a nearby hospital and put on life-support, but Donna and Ryan made the decision to take her off after several days, and Gia immediately passed away.

Rumors immediately began circulating as to what could have led Gia to take her own life, and several of her friends have spoken out, offering their own theories. Gia's mother, though, has told the public not to believe all they hear when it comes to Gia's death.

"The family and close friends of Gia Allemand have not spoken to the media to date, nor have they posted comments or insight on Twitter. There are numerous statements and theories in the media regarding Gia's death and her life that refer to sources close to Gia or friends of hers," Donna said in an official statement.

"As her mother, I am well aware of Gia's close friends and her best friends, and I am personally going on record to refute all statements to the media out there thus far, with the exception of official statements we have released through publicist Penelope Jean Hayes, and those jointly with Ryan Anderson's NBA team representation," Donna explained.

Meanwhile, Gia's father, Eugene, told the New York Daily News that he "didn't see this coming. We had a fight on Mother's Day and I said some things that I regret. I wish I could take them back, but it's too late. If she were still here, I would tell her I'm so sorry and that I love her and that she will always be my rainbow."

Family and friends gathered for a small, intimate memorial service for Gia; they recalled a young woman who was full of life and energy until her death, which has left them all stunned.
