After an interview with Out Magazine, news reports emerged claiming that former "X-Files" star Gillian Anderson was a bi-sexual. The star however, has said that it is not something that she wanted to make a big deal of and never referred to herself as such.

Anderson is set to appear in the new PBS series, "Great Expectations" in which she will play Miss Havisham, the bride that time forgot. While being interviewed by the magazine for her new role, Anderson was asked about her past. The actress revealed that she had been voted "Most Bizarre" and "Most Likely to Be Arrested" because many of the things she did "freaked" people out, "based on how I chose to look, dress, behave, you know-the relationships I was in at the time were freaking people out."

Anderson was then asked to elaborate on her relationships. "I was in a relationship with a girl for a long time when I was in high school, and then I was in a relationship with a punk rock drug addict..."

After making the statement the actress was immediately questioned on her same-sex relationship. "Yeah, yeah, well it's... You know, I'm old enough that I can talk about that," she said.

"Everything that that kind of anarchistic attitude brings - the inappropriate behavior it leads to - was how I chose to be in the world at that time, which was, you know, not what people did."

Although Anderson, who has a 17-year-old daughter from her first marriage and two young sons with her current boyfriend, admitted to having a relationship with a women she also did not describe herself as bi-sexual.

"Would it have been a bigger deal if shame had been attached to it and all those things that become huge life-altering issues for youngsters in that situation? It's possible that my attitude around it came, on some level, from knowing that I still liked boys," she said.
