A seven-year-old girl has fought off a kidnapper in an Atlanta Walmart after he grabbed her and tried to snatch her away from her parents while shopping for toys.

Security cameras captured a man grabbing young Brittney Baxter in the Atlanta Walmart in a terrifying attack. However, she is also shown kicking and fighting him off using what her parents had taught her about strangers.

Baxter told news reporters, "Yeah, I was just like trying to do like this and kick as hard as I can."

She was in the Walmart store looking for toys when the man grabbed her and attempted to put his hand over her mouth to stop her screaming for help. He lifted her off the ground and then tried to drag her out the store.

The kidnapper, Thomas Woods, 25, obviously did not expect such a fierce fight back from such a young child, and following a few seconds of struggling he dropped her and made his escape from the store.

However, he did not escape police for long, as cops used Walmart's surveillance footage to view the attempted kidnapping, and also found footage of Wood's getaway car, which was later pulled over.

Police have reported that Woods had recently been released from state prison, however, he has denied being in Walmart saying, "I didn't bother nobody, I was never there."

Baxter's parents have praised her for remembering her "Stranger Danger" training that they taught her previously. Parent Georgeann Baxter said, "If this can help save another kid, then that would help save somebody else."
