'Girls' Season 5 News, Spoilers: Penultimate Season Finale Ends With Romantic Reunion and Epic Fight

HBO's New York-based drama/comedy "Girls" aired its season 5 finale on Sunday, April 17, ending the current season with a much-anticipated reunion and a physically destructive fight.

The season 5 finale is the second-to-last season ender for the series, which will air its sixth and final season next year.

In the two-part season 5 finale, which consisted of episodes "Love Stories" and "I Love You Baby," Marnie (Allison Wiliams), who is in the process of getting divorced from Desi (Ebon Moss-Bachrach), suddenly showed up at Ray's (Alex Karpovsky) place, where she confessed her feelings for him. The two then fell to the floor in a steamy makeout scene.

But while Marnie and Alex may be all caught up in romantic feelings in the finale, it won't be "Girls" without the drama and neuroses.

When Entertainment Weekly asked Karpovsky what's in store for the two after their romantic reunion, the "Girls" actor, who directed the episode, said: "A lot of confusion. A lot of torment. A lot of doubt. A lot of speculation. A lot of misguided lust, and things along those lines."

Meanwhile, in an interview with E! News, Williams spoke about what she hopes to see from Marnie in the show's sixth season, saying, "I'd love to see an act of love and selflessness from Marnie."

"If I see that next season it'll be a victory and she'll have been utterly transformed. Those are really rare for her!" the actress shared.

Elsewhere in the finale, Shoshanna (Zosia Mamet), who had returned from Japan, teamed up with Ray in his battle against a rival coffee shop.

Elijah (Andrew Rannells), still feeling the aftereffects of his devastating last encounter with Dill (Corey Stoll), ended up inspiring Hannah's dad, Tad (Peter Scolari) to go after his own happiness.

As for Jessa (Jemima Kirke) and Adam (Adam Driver), the two had an epic fight that resulted in broken furniture, a broken door, and lots of debris. The two argued about Jessa's best friend, Hannah (Lena Dunham), who also happens to be Adam's ex.

While Adam had nothing but expletives for his former girlfriend, Jessa maintained that Hannah is still a part of her life.

In a later scene, Hannah revealed that she was outside of the apartment and had heard parts of Jessa and Adam's fight.

Taking her turn in an open-mike competition, Hannah said that when she found out about Jessa and Adam, she had been "weirdly calm" and even "frozen."

"I tried to get myself really worked up and imagine all of this horrible stuff on a loop," she said. "I wasn't angry, I was sad. I was sad about what they thought they knew I was."

The sixth season of "Girls" will air in 2017.
