God did this so that men would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him. (Acts 17:27 NIV)
No matter where you go, God is there before you. At 19 Bruce Olson left family and friends and set out to find a people group who knew nothing of Jesus. Discovering the Motilone people of Venezuela, he spent several years improving health care and agriculture, but their minds were still closed to the gospel. How could he help them understand?
Bruce was shocked one day to hear wailing deep in the jungle. He found a man digging a deep hole searching for God! The Motilone had a legend: long ago they had offended God and he had left them. One day a man with a banana stalk would help them find God again. Bruce suddenly had the key - pulling out his Bible he declared, "I am that man!" A banana stalk when split with a machete opens like the pages of a book! God had imbedded in their culture a clue that would open their hearts to his message. Today the entire tribe is "on God's trail."
No culture is so impenetrable that God has not already been working, preparing the ground for his message of saving grace!
Prayer: Lord, help me share with boldness your Good News, knowing you have prepared hearts to receive it.
