The Golden Globe Awards 2014 takes place on Sunday night in the first of Hollywood's high profile awards nights this season.

This will be the 71st annual Golden Globe Awards, and will take place at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills.

The awards show begins at 8 p.m. ET and can be watched on TV on the NBC network or online through free live stream (details below).

A host of the most famous actors and actresses will attend the awards show on Sunday night, with Tina Fey and Amy Poehler set to host the event.

Most are expecting it to be a hilarious night of jokes with Fey and Poehler running things – both are alumni of "Saturday Night Live" and hosted the successful Golden Globes Awards show last year.

Catt Sadler and Jesse Giddings are touted to be hosting various events to interact with A-list celebrities this year, and they will be helping fans warm up towards the main event.

For this year's awards, "American Hustle" and "12 Years a Slave" lead the nominations with seven each, and one of them is sure to be the most successful movie of the night.

However, not to be overlooked are a host of other top movies such as "Captain Cphilips," "Gravity," "Philomena," and "Rush," which have all been nominated for best motion picture drama.

Also taking place at this year's event will be a special award for director Woody Allen, who will be honored with the Cecil B. DeMille Award for his highly acclaimed work through the decades. Allen is of course known for such classic films as "Annie Hall" and "Midnight in Paris."

Theo Kingma, president of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, has said of Woody Allen's award: "There is no one more worthy of this award than Woody Allen. His contributions to filmmaking have been phenomenal and he truly is an international treasure."

Last year's recipient of the Cecil B. DeMille Award was Jodie Foster, and Hollywood is in agreement that Woody Allen is a perfect recipient for the award this year.

For those who may not be able to watch the NBC show, live-stream footage of the event can be viewed here. Given Fey and Poehler's terrific performance last year, this is probably not something to be missed.

The red-carpet event live stream will be available by E!Online and can be watched online by clicking here. The Golden Globes 2014 main awards show be available to watch on TV on the NBC network or online through free live stream on the Golden Globes website by clicking here.
