Golden State Warriors News: Stephen Curry Powers Warriors to 1-0 Series Opener Against Rockets

During last night's Game 1 between the Golden State Warriors and the Houston Rockets, it was the first time the MVP faced the MVP runner-up in a non-NBA Finals series since 1986.

And the two players have definitely stepped up for their respective squads, with Steph Curry scoring 34 points, grabbing 6 boards and dishing 5 assists, while James Harden made 28 points, 11 rebounds and 9 assists.

Unfortunately for Harden, the Warriors made some tough plays down the stretch, en route to a 110-106 Game 1 victory at the Oracle Arena in Oakland.

Dwight Howard did not show the same brilliance and agility he showed during the series with the Clips after he hurt his knee in the early part of the game.

Harden last tied the game at 97-all, before the Warriors made a 9-2 spurt to go ahead, 106-99 approaching the final minute.

However, several freethrows from Golden State finally completed their come-from-behind victory over Houston, grabbing a 1-0 lead going to Game 2.
