Google Android 5.0.1 Release Date, News: Lollipop OTA Update Surfaced for 3 Nexus Handsets
It's already about a month since Google's Android 5.0 Lollipop rolled out. Recent news indicates that a 5.0.1 update is underway and it will be available (initially) for Nexus 9, Nexus 7, and Nexus 10, according to reports.
Google posted image files on its Android Open Source Project page particularly on the Factory Images for Nexus Devices page showing the latest OS update for the tech giant's mobile devices, CNET reported.
As mentioned in the post, the latest Lollipop update will roll out for Google's Wi-Fi Nexus 9, Wi-Fi 2013 Nexus 7, and the Nexus 10.

Android Central meanwhile added to the report saying that for owners of the mentioned devices, they can easily implement the update by way of using the actual Over The Air (OTA) file itself.
They posted in their website the Android 5.0.1 OTA update links for the corresponding Nexus devices.
For Nexus 7: Nexus 7 2013, Wifi-only (razor) LRX21P to LRX22C
For Nexus 9: Nexus 9 (volantis) LRX21R to LRX22C
For Nexus 10: Nexus 10 (mantaray) LRX21P to LRX22C
As stated by the tech website, the major purpose of the 5.0.1 Lollipop update is intended to fix a bug that often triggers device reset under a specific condition.
"Android users can set up their devices to be reset if too many incorrect attempts to get past the lock screen are detected," the site explained.
"Enough accidental taps on the lock screen could trigger an incorrect pattern, thereby causing the device to inadvertently reset itself," they added.
To address this problem, the Android 5.0.1 will now "detect only unlock patterns that reach the minimum length of four dots."
Twice or thrice occurring accidental taps won't also raise red flags when the new OS update is integrated to the device.
