Google always has a way of tickling our inner child when it comes to naming their latest software. After Kit-Kat, Lollipop, and Marshmallow, can you guess the name of the newest sweet treat that will make the Android users drool?

The tech giant released its latest operating system, Nougat, on Monday. In an earlier report, a Canadian carrier announced that Google will first distribute it to two devices: Huawei Nexus 6P and LG Nexus 5X.

Two of the major modifications this new operating system brings to Android users are better multi-tasking features and superior notification control.

Google first distributed the update to selected Nexus devices. But if you want it now, here's how to do it.

How to have 'Nougat' now

Here are some tips on how to get the latest Android operating system, Nougat.

First, see to it that the device in hand is compatible with the new OS. You need to have a Nexus-compatible device, a Pixel C Tablet or a General Mobile 4G.

After checking device compatibility, enroll the Google account dedicated for the device to the Android Beta Program.

According to Google, it will take around a day for them to send the update to your device. Some users who tried this procedure say, however, that the update notification arrived in just seconds.

Next, make sure to have a full battery on and secure a strong Wi-Fi connection to download the update.

List of Sony device models to get Nougat

Since the release, Sony has been very fast in disclosing their list of devices that will get a hold of the Nougat OS.

First on the list is the Xperia Z5 series, specifically the following models: Xperia Z5, Xperia Z5 Premium, and Xperia Z5 Compact.

Next is their Xperia series, including Xperia X Performance, Xperia XA, Xperia X, Xperia X Ultra, Xperia Z3+, and the Xperia Z4 Tablet.

What Android users can expect from 'Nougat'

According to early reviews of the release, Nougat does not have much of a wide difference with Android's previous OS, Marshmallow.

Still, it boasts of a broad range of speed and accessibility improvements, such as the split-screen support, notifications interface change, and the new cute cat-catching game which will surely entice users to play.

Meet Nougat

The name came from Android user Lauren Goode. It was in May when Google announced that they were receiving name suggestions for their 'N' operating system.

Voting ended and finally, a cat named Nougat won.
